Stick a piece of regular-size blank paper onto the floor Wear socks similar to what you would normally wear with the shoes you intend to purchase Place your foot on the piece of paper (angle it if needed), then bend forward so that the knee is ahead of the shin bone. Draw around the contour of your foot with your pen/pencil. The drawing tip of your writing tool should press against your sock; do not allow any gaps between them. Next, using the ruler, draw straight lines along the extreme outermost points of your foot’s contour. There is no need for the lines to meet or extend beyond each other; however, if they did, they would form a long, thin trapezium.
Measure the following dimensions, rounded to the nearest 1/16″: Length (the distance between the front line and the back line) Width (the distance between the right line and the left line) Do everything mentioned above again with your other foot and choose the larger measurements. This is because most people have one foot bigger than the other.
